Oh also, when he said I couldn't have a new router (unless I paid), I said "In that case, can I use my own router?". He said "No!". I enquired why BE/O2 customers could, and he said it's a setting on their line to allow them. As my line has been Sky for 2+ years, I'm stuck with Sky router! (If I follow official protocol!)

No one has ever been punished for using a on-Sky router.

I've never used the sky supplied router since the day I switched to sky's broadband. Any other router is a downgrade from my Draytek...

You could try asking if they will give you an out of warranty SR101 or SR102. I got a 2 year old refurbished SR101 for 2.38 postage a few months back in return for extending my BB contract by 12 months.

      Re: Has MER been ditched?

The latest T&Cs make no mention of having to use the supplied router to access Sky Broadband as the previous version did. It now has this para tucked away in the Terms -
      2. Using Sky Broadband
      (j) If you wish to use a modem or any other equipment that we have not supplied to you in order to access Sky Broadband we cannot guarantee that Sky Broadband will work with these.
That means you can use what router you want, but they make no undertaking to supply connection details. You might get an agent who will give you the details, provided you are using your Sky router to connect when you make the request, but they are not obliged to do so.
