Connect New Router to Sky Router

I currently have a standard sky router which works ok; however, I am now wanting to increase the capacity of the network with a Dual Band N router. I have been given a new Belkin F6D6230 cable router to use.

I want to use this router for everything and use the current sky router purely as a modem. Will the set up be as simple as running an ethernet cable from the sky router to the WLAN port on the Belkin router assuming the sky router LAN IP is 192.168.0.1 and the Belkin is default at 168.168.2.1 and turning off the wireless on the sky router or is it more complicated?

      Thanks

      Jonathan

You have more or less got it, yes that will will.

For a list of what else you need to do, please read Tom's guide:

      http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/askin...nk-dir613.html

Once completed you can access the GUI on both routers if you need to when connected to the Belkin.

Re: Connect New Router to Sky Router

What is the advantage of following the steps listed in the guide above as opposed to just unticking "Enable Wireless Access Point," am I limiting my tp-link's functions such as port forwarding and security if I do not follow the above guide and instead untick "Enable Wireless Access Point router"?

      Thank you

Re: Connect New Router to Sky Router

If you do not do as suggested you will be running through 2 router firewalls, which is never recommended. Turning off the wireless does nothing but that, it does not help in anyway to make the router a modem.
