Sky Wifi won’t connect 1of2 pcs, both ok with hotspots

      I have a Sky D-Link router.
I don’t know how to search for this problem.
Router is ok with LAN, but I’m having problems with wifi.
Some months ago, Sky Support said my laptop was faulty, and I never did get it going.
Recently I spent 3h with them again, and now they say the router is faulty, so I have to buy a new from them.
Before, the router wouldn’t work wifi with my Windows XP laptop.
      * Windows said it was connnected, but browsers would say it wasn't.
I went to a hotspot, and it didn’t work either, till I tried Internet Explorer, then it started working ok.
I took it home, and it then worked ok with all browsers.
Now I have to get it going with my Windows 8 laptop.
That works on hotspots, but still won’t work with my router - ‘won’t connect’ message.
      So in summary,
Hotspots: Win 8 ok, XP ok.
Sky router wifi: XP ok, Win 8 not ok.
      Please help, thanks.

What error are you getting when you trouble-shoot the connection with Win 8? Windows 7 and 8 have very good trouble shooters which will usual guide you through the problem.

Check the wireless settings in the Dlink to make sure Wireless Station Access list has not been enabled.

Thank you so much, you gave me the lead I needed.
The Wireless Station Access list was enabled.
      Brilliant.
