      Is this a router problem?

My broadband connection dropped out this morning whilst in use. I use the black netgear sky router. I have ring the helpdesk and done all the usual, new filter, new wire, connected to test socket. The line test came up ok so I've been asked to wait up to 72 hours for the case to be escalated.
I've obviously turned the router on and off a few times. At first the power light and wireless light were showing solid green, now the power light and the test light are showing, but nothing else. I'm wondering if this could mean that the router itself is the problem. I think it is possibly 8 to 10 years old. If it is the router, is it the norm for sky to replace it free of charge?
Any help gladly received, thanks in advance.

your router would be about 6 years old ,but many not be issue and will not replaced for free cost 69 pounds but can be replaced for free if your re contract your bb service for 12 months plus charge for p&p
best would be if you know someone else who has adsl bb (ie bt line) try your router in their connection if it gets solid amber/green internet light then is it not router issue and then will probably need engineer visit if tis is case contact support and let them know

now the power light and the test light are showing,
If the Test light is staying on, then I would say the router is faulty. You could try a reset and see if that helps. Push a pin or biro point into the reset hole and hold it there until the lights flash. If the lights dont flash, the router has had it, if they do see if it goes on the boot properly.

If you can get a replacement router for 2.80 p&p, plus signing up for another year, then take it anyway, the new Hub although not wonderful, is far superior to the DG934g.
