      Slow Router Access

      Hi

How long should it take to access my router?

It takes roughly 20 seconds to load the initial home page of the router and then about the same amount of time (sometimes longer) to load the maintenance page once logged in using a cabled Windows 7 workstation. With a wireless laptop it takes longer!

Are these times in line with what others are getting?

These are the details of my router...

      Manufacturer Sagemcom
      Model Number F@ST2304
      Firmware Version 5.23.1a4N
      ADSL Firmware Version A2pD030n.d23b

Internal cabling between the router and workstation is running at 1Gbps

Ping'ing the router gets a response in <1ms with 0% packet loss

I don't remember it being that slow in the past to access, its only recently when I've been checking speeds frequently that it seems to have slowed. Could there be something wrong with the router, has there been a firmware update which might have slowed it?

      Thanks in advance

      Steve

It should display almost immediately. Have you tried another browser?

When you type the address, don't type www or anything other than 192.168.0.1.

      Re: Slow Router Access

I have a short cut in my browser that goes straight to 192.168.0.1 so no www etc

Have tried with IE, Firefox and my usual browser Chrome.

      Re: Slow Router Access

Try saving your router settings then reset the router by holding in the reset button for about 10 secs or until the lights begin to flash. When it has done, logout then log in again. If the time to show has improved, replace your settings and try again.

If you don't improve the entry time, maybe you should look for a new router, the 2304N was about the worst router Sky issued.

      Re: Slow Router Access

I used to have the same thing with my 2504n on that firmware.

Initially, GUI navigation was instant with everything on default settings.
Then one day i put my ps3 in the DMZ, turned off UPnP & power cycled the router to make the changes take effect.
When back online, GUI navigation was very slow.

Doing a factory reset by holding a pin in the back for 15 seconds did cure the GUI issue, but of course everything's back to default again.

I have no such issues now with firmware version 6.14.6a4N_UNI but i don't know if the 2304n was ever meant to have the UNI firmware.

I don't think it will, it was just a stopgap between the 2504 and the 2504N. Sky should replace them all in my opinion.
