Could It Be A Broken Router

I went to go on the net before and I had no connection. Rebooted the router (sagem 2504n) and all that happens is the internet light flashes red a couple of times and then nothing. I've checked everything is connected properly, took the faceplate off and tried the test socket, nothing whatsoever. Rung Sky got the usual and got told someone would call me back in 72 hours.

I've not got a spare router or psu to try, just wondered if anyone had any ideas.

Tethering my phone to get on the internet...

It does sound like either the PSU or the router has failed.

Re: Could It Be A Broken Router

Sky confirmed today that the router is dead,
"Your router is out of warranty so, if you sign up for a new 12 month contract we can send a replacement out"
. I said is that the new hub? Sky said
" No, it would be another Sagem one, unless you wait until 14th of June, then we can send you the new Sky hub rather than you paying 69 plus postage + another 12 month contract"
      .

I said I would wait, but I'm not very impressed with their response TBH.

So it means no broadband for the best part of 2 weeks, and another 12 months contract...

You Could try telling them you'll cancel the lot if you don't get a free Sky Hub (If you are out of contract)

Worked for me once when my LNB for the TV was playing up...

They'll probably still want you to recontract mind as otherwise there's no gain for them.

Re: Could It Be A Broken Router

The Sky hub it's on it's way. hopefully should be here Tuesday or Wednesday. The strange thing is, I tried the Sagem the other night and it connected straight away. My stats are the best they've ever been.

      ROUTER STATISTICS

      System Up Time: 42:35:35
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 22993061 22784400 0 0 260223 42:34:32
      LAN Up 2446514 1561969 0 19189 2773 42:35:35
      WLAN Up 1030664 376766 0 407 0 42:35:11
      Broadband Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 15355 kbps 1023 kbps
Line Attenuation 35.5 dB 21.9 dB
Noise Margin 6.3 dB 10.6 dB
Poll Interval: (secs, at least 3s)

I didn't mind signing up for another 12 months because, TBH I cannot fault the broadband, at least I ended getting the hub for free so I can always keep the Sagem as a backup.

All I need now is my cab enabled so I can get Fibre...
