      Re: New 2504n firmware

This post on the sky forum shows it to be the one that was undergoing beta testing, so presumably it passed.

Searching the entire sky forum for 6.14.6a4N_UNI reveals only one other instance of a customer being sent this update, which was on 3rd may.

I've had a good look through the GUI & can't see any differences, nor has performance been altered in any way.

Looks like it's 3rd time lucky for sky & the 2504n.

Yeah, sky had previously tried versions 1a4N & your 2a4N but halted the roll-out of both due to some issues with either drop-outs or latency with certain gaming servers.

I was on the old v5 firmware until today.

      Thank you for this.

Hopefully this will fix the issues which people were experiencing previously. The new firmware should also support the same method of finding the best WiFi channel that the Sky Hub SR101 uses. This should mean an improved performance all around.

Just noticed that my 2504n has been updated with this new firmware.
      Anyone else?

Does anyone know what other improvements were made?
      Thanks.

      Re: New 2504n firmware

TBH i've barely used the net this last week but can't say i've noticed any improvements or differences.

Obviously it's _UNIversal now & can be used for fibre connections, so on the WAN set-up page under the advanced tab, there's a new 'router mode' setting.
This can be changed from the default 'auto' to 'ADSL only' or 'WANoE only'.

I haven't tried it on mine yet, but other v6 UNI firmwares required this to be changed before the option to alter mtu settings would be become available.

Other than that, i don't use wifi so all seems as it was here.

      Re: New 2504n firmware

      Since my firmware has been upgraded to 6.14.6a4N_UNI I am experiencing connection drop outs every 10-20 minutes or so. The only way to restore my connection is by resetting the router. This is exactly the same problem that plagued the previous version of firmware installed on my router - I think this was 6.14.2a4N_UNI. I have downgraded the firmware again using the router recovery tool and my broadband was working perfectly again for several weeks however the firmware has just been automatically upgraded again to 6.14.6a4N_UNI and I am losing my connection again every few minutes. I have two questions;

      1) why can't Sky seem to produce a firmware which works well with all of their routers - I believe this latest upgrade is supposed to have undergone extensive beta testing prior to being released??

      2) is there a way I can alter my routers settings so the firmware does not undergo automatic upgrading?

You might be able to stop upgrades with the Custom firmware. I think it is on by default, but you may be able to turn it off, you could on the older version.
