Maybe there will be a combined modem/router for Fibre users to tie in with fttc self-installation when it comes?!

      Re: Beta Trial

It'd be good if Sky one up BT with a dual band, gigabit A/VDSL router with this trial. Highly doubtful though

      Re: Beta Trial

I have volunteered but don't think I will be chosen as I neglected to mention I use both cabled and wireless connections.

      Silly me!

Send them another message clarifying what you use, it can't hurt your chances then .

      Re: Beta Trial

Nice to see the interest is most definitely there

@Mystic Eddy: Yes I am aware that the current BTO Modems only have a 100mb LAN Port. I guess that BTO will need to supply a faster BTO Modem as well when they launch the new products later this month.

If Sky is ever to launch an FTTP product range and support the speeds above 100mb, then they will need a router with 1Gbit Ethernet ports and faster WiFi than 144mbps.. Ideally there should also be support for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands as well.

      Re: Beta Trial

Hmmm, if chosen I had better flash back the original firmware to the BT modem them as I suspect that will have to be changed as part of the trial.

      Re: Beta Trial

No problem. Please remember though that the specifications for the Sky Hub SR101 were fixed long before the beta group was formed.

Just to clarify though, based upon the first beta group for the Sky Hub SR101, the development team will likely be looking for a range of people with a variety of different set ups and knowledge and experience.

Whilst it is nice to hammer the router, it is also understandably important to have those who do not use it as much.

However they will be interested in people participating with the beta group. Something that has been obvious from the groups I have been involved with is that some people are very quiet.

The purpose of any beta test is to know not just when things do not work, but also to know when things are running smoothly. It is therefore just as important for those who do not have problems to say as much, as it is for those who have issues to report them.
