      2504N as access point?

      Hi,

I have my old sky 2504N router that I'd like to use as an access point for wired devices I can't add a WiFi adapters to. I have an O2 broadband box downstairs connected to my phone line and providing the WiFi. The wired devices will be going upstairs so I don't want to run ethernet cable all that way. I was hoping to use the 2504N upstairs where there is a wireless signal. Is there any way I can connect the two routers wirelessly? Or do I need to get some Homeplugs? I guess using the homeplugs would also boost the wireless signal upstairs...

Sadly all the Sky routers, with the possible exception of the Netgear DG834GT, do not allow you to do this.

I believe that the Netgear I believe will allow it is you load the Netgear firmware.

The only options are to use an Ethernet cable, pair of HomePlugs or purchase a WiFi Extender. Personally though I would actually advise against the WiFi extenders if speed is an issue.

Thanks for this. Speed is OK and wifi covers the whole house so was just wondering if I cold do it without buying anything else. Now to find a good deal on a pair of homeplugs!
