About to join Sky and need to know if VOIP will still work please?

      Hi,

** moved this to this forum from another forum on Skyuser as I think I originally posted in the wrong place **

I am just moving home and am looking to have Sky broadband. At the moment I have a SIP account with Sipgate and use an old Vigor 2600V router that has built-in voip. This old router is playing up so I need to ditch it. I wanted to be sure, before I sign up for Sky that I will be able to use a Cisco PAP2T or an OBI 100-uk VOIP adaptor with whatever router sky provide. I assume I will get an SR101 but am not sure. Sky do not offer Fibre to my new house just yet (although BT just upgraded the cabinet to FTTC apparently). I will go with plain old ADSL for now.

I have done quite a lot of research on the SR101 and I cannot seem to find out too much detail as to whether it will work. Some people seem to have issues it seems.

If I cannot get it to work then I can go for the non-Sky router option so any advice on the best router out there with built-in VOIP / POTS adaptor or the best router to go for that will do the ADSL and the Fiber down the road would be most appreciated. If this is not an option then I want a router that will not screw up the SIP/VOIP and I will still go ahead and get hte OBi100-uk.

      Make sense?
      Thanks all.
      Paul

I've had a Sipgate account for a number of years and it has worked without interruption on Sky BB (with the current Sky Hub router and the original Sky Netgear router). I'm using a Linksys (Cisco) adaptor which has been in use for so long I've forgotten all the technical details because it's just worked without any problem.
