Noise margin is negotiated with the exchange during sync (And on an ongoing basis if SRA is enabled) it shouldn't need new firmware

Probably me adding 2+2 and getting 5, but I thought it might have something to do with what Scubbie mentioned to me in another post....

Thought (hoped) it might be a beta version of this firmware for older Sagem 2504's

      Re: Sagem beta trial

There's been 2 significant updates to DLM.
The one that enabled the use of noise margins lower than 7db & down to 3db was released in spring (not autumn - thanks Scubbie) last year.

I don't believe it required a specific router firmware for it to take effect on a particular line.

The beta test mentioned in the first post was for firmware version 6.14.6a4N_UNI, which is still the latest one.

If your router has that & you're on the right exchange equipment, the improvements made in the 2nd DLM update become available.
These include G.INP + seemingly the ability to apply max delays lower than 8ms, ie lower pings for gamers.

My 2504n received 6.14.6a4N_UNI on 5th may this year.
The latest 'phase 3' trial is still ongoing, so nobody knows anything about that yet.

Is there a way of finding that out?. (exchange in signature).

All i know for certain is what Scubbie has already posted, ie sky's own SVBN equipment & not BT wholesale kit.

If you're on sky talk & dial 17070 ,do you get "Hi i'm Zoe"?
If so, i think that confirms SVBN.

Whether that's the only requirement or sky have to physically install some extra kit or not i don't know.

I'm not sure there would be any point in that tbh Joe.

Both types of kit can coexist in the same exchange.
It's a case of which type you're on.

Is or has your connection type ever been mer?
      This may also confirm SVBN.
