Great to hear you've seemingly got to the bottom of your problem! I've got a similar issue with my iPad 2, but I'm using the Sky DG834GT router. I never suspected the WPA security; it works fine on my iPhones and Macs. So am I to understand that I can upgrade the firmware on this to resolve the issue?

Check the Security options in the wireless section. I thought the latest Sky firmware for the GT made WPA and WPA2 available. If you are using WEP you may have problems.

Re: Is it my sky router or my ipad at fault?

      The firmware I'm using is:

      Firmware Version V1.04.13

I've never upgraded it myself, does sky do it automatically? I have the following available, and I'm currently using WPA-PSK

      Security Options
      Disable
      WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)
      WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)
      WPA-802.1x
      WPA2-PSK(Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 with Pre-Shared Key)
      WPA-PSK+WPA2-PSK

I was lead to believe from this thread that WPA-PSK may be the cause of the iPad dropping its connection and requiring a router restart? If this is the case do I need to upgrade the router firmware or just switch to WPA2-PSK or something? Thanks

Try it on WPA-PSK+WPA2-PSK first and see how it goes. If it doesn't help, set it to WPA2-PSK only. You have the latest Sky firmware for the GT. You should maybe consider upgrading your router, the GT is fairly old and could be near the end of its life. Some members have been offered a free upgrade to the SR101 when signing up to a further 12 month contract. It might be worth giving them a ring.

Re: Is it my sky router or my ipad at fault?

Good suggestions, thanks, I'll try that. I was originally hamstrung by some older Macs and PCs which needed WEP, but then I got rid of them and was able to move to WPA a couple of years ago. I still have other old devices which may not be able to go from WPA to WPA2, but I'll try it out and see!

As for the SR101, it's worth a shot, but I tend not to upgrade things unless completely necessary, and the DG834GT has done the job OK so far. Thanks again.
