I don't think that there is a custom firmware for this router at present.

      Cheers for the info
It is possible to flash it with DG834-Ver 3 firmware. I am not sure if this will make WPA2 available but if it doesn't a further flash with DGTeam firmware probably will. See here - http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/techn...-firmware.html

There is also Sky firmware available on the Netgear site which upgrades to WPA 2. This is included in the Source Code here -
Open Source Code for Programmers (GPL) This is a compresed file of about 56MB, which has to be unziopped to get to the image file. If you want to try this PM me your email address and I will forward you the image file only.(3.8MB)

Meanwhile there are known issues with iOs6 and Netgear routers, have a lookk here-
      Wi-Fi issues with iOS 6

Re: Is it my sky router or my ipad at fault?

Ps I've already read loads of stuff and tried loads of different things suggested on ipad support forums
      No real solution

I can't really see netgear being much help although they are acknowledging the issues

If I ring sky CS, would they replace my router with a non-netgear based on that netgear link you posted?

The Sky Hub SR101 has been designed within Sky. It has Sky's logo on the internal boards too.

You could try, but I doubt it. Sky agree to supply you with a broadband service, they don't guarantee that all the devices you want to connect will be compatible. Apart from that the problem seems to be between Netgear and Apple, Sky have nothing to do with it.

I have no problem running an iPad 3 on my Netgear which is running DGTeam firmware. It is capable of WPA2-AES though, which seems to be at the root of the problem.

I understand why you say that and the conversation with CS might prove difficult
However I think you can only really justify that stance, if I had chosen what router I wanted. Basically you get what you're given..it may well be a netgear and apple issue to resolve, but it's sky's problem because they picked netgear...so sky has issued different routers to different customers all who should be getting (and are paying for) the same service.

The problem is Sky issued that router before the iPad was a gleam in Steve Jobs eye.

Send me your email and I will forward the latest Sky firmware which has not officially been issued yet which supports WPA2. That will solve your problem I think. It is Sky firmware so it installs easily through the GUI.

Re: Is it my sky router or my ipad at fault?

I can unofficially report that allegedly the WPA2 firmware has held firm for 2 days now. iPad 3 with iOS 6.1 remains connected with no issues.

the firmware seems a tad buggy in relation to listing the names of attached devices (show up as random chars) and seems to get screwed up when you try and reserve fixed IP addresses for certain devices. However, disconnecting all devices and reconnecting them seems to resolve the display issue. This doesn't stop anything from working, it just looks odd on the router page

Just hope Sky don't spoil it by downgading the firmware.
