      Sky Sagemcom - Intermittent Connection

      Howdy Guys,

I've been having a problem with my router over the past couple of months and have been speaking to Sky regularly about my problem.

I've decided to upgrade to sky fibre as I'm sick of the slow connection.

In the meantime im just wondering if there is anything I can do to speed my connection up.

      My current router stats are:

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 8499 9439 0 1007399 8108338 0:34:39
      LAN Up 1652611 1043958 0 1992279779 127316526 167:42:58
      WLAN Up 8217412 3985673 0 2078437912 358997442 167:42:40
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4094 kbps 606 kbps
Line Attenuation 52.5 dB 32.7 dB
Noise Margin 6.0 dB 15.6 dB

Can anyone think of how I can improve this?

      Thanks alot guys.

Re: Sky Sagemcom - Intermittent Connection

Probably not. The average connection speed for that attenuation is 3-5Mbps. You could get some extra speed if the noise margin was lowered, but this can only happen if the line is stable enough. You'd need to phone Sky and ask them to run DLM training again as this is the only way to get this lowered.

Other options would be to make sure you're plugged in to the master socket and use a VDSL faceplate as this may lower you line attenuation, but if you are upgrading to fibre, it may not be worth the bother.
