Question My Router and connection keep dropping every few hours Options

      Hi

This first started to happen a few weeks ago but seems to be getting worse.

My conection keeps going down every few hours also some times the wifi just dies to.

The router must be at least 4 years old now I wonder if its broken?

      This is my line stats

Blimey its hard to read the stats

from what i can make out you are connected 22mb down with a noise margin of 3db,
you could try re-syncing at a noisy time of day to get your speed down and noise margin up and this may give you a more stable line

E.g. from about 7:30 PM until about 5:00 AM.

Re: My Router and connection keep dropping every few hours Options

I think you were one of those whose speed was increased by DLM by reducing your noise margin to 3 db. Your line may be struggling with this and drop below it when the line gets noisy, causing problems. Booting when the line is noisy, may help, but as it will probably resync at 3 dbs you may be no better off. You may have to call Sky and ask them to cap your speed down, probably to 20Mb. If you do call them, ask them to increase your upload speed as it is very low for your attenuation.

You appear to be another who is being effected by the attenuation being reported incorrectly on upload. It cannot possibly be 0db on ADSL.

If you click the A/A icon in the post pane menu and make sure WYSIWYG is selected, you can simply copy and paste your stats and they will appear as you see them.

Re: My Router and connection keep dropping every few hours Options

As I remarked in another thread, I think Sky are now allowing lines to perform to there maximum, rather than cap it at 20 Mb. I don't know if they will be able to do this manually.
