      Remote Blocking of XBox Live

We have a Sagecom F@ST2504n Sky router with a couple of computers connected wirelessly and an XBox connected via ethernet cable.

I've set up remote access to the router so I can control it via my mobile phone. I want to be able to turn access to XBox Live on and off as required. This is to control the amount of time a family member is using it during the day.

      Can this be easily done?

      Thanks a lot

Not really sure how you would do this tbh

The only way that I can think of, is by keyword blocking or by scheduling or by Firewall Rule / port blocking etc

If it is using wireless, simply disable the wireless. Failing that all you can do is as NR suggests.

      Thanks Tom & NR

The XBox is connected by Ethernet cable so limiting the wireless isn't going to achieve what we need.

I'm just in the process of collating all the MAC addresses of the various devices that will be accessing the router and see if there's any way of limiting access to just those devices - I've not seen a way of doing that so far.

Otherwise, it may be a case of blocking ports. If I set up a firewall rule, I can choose what it applies to from a drop-down list. From having a search around, the ports used by XBox live are 53,80,88,1863 and 3074. The only port that I can see specifically listed on the drop-down list is 53, so I may try activating that rule tonight and see if there's any effect.

      Cheers

Re: Remote Blocking of XBox Live

A lot depends on how 'PC savvy' the person you are trying to block is. The straight forward way of doing it would be to block all outgoing by schedule from the IP of the Xbox. Unfortunately is the person you are trying to block is clever, he/she could change the IP of the Xbox and bypass your block. Blocking someone who is determined can be very difficult.

Re: Remote Blocking of XBox Live

I have just remembered that some found it difficult to get blocking by time to be difficult to set up as the clock did not like going past 2400 hours. If you find this try Allowing by Schedule, your setting would be something like this-
      Remote Blocking of XBox Live-capture1.jpg

The address would be the IP address of the Xbox.
