The SR101 is made in China but has been designed in-house by Sky.

Please note: We have a few more documents ready for publication on the forum and when they have had the final proof checks completed we will publish them on the forum. These include various guides and photographs for everyone to view. We had planned for these to be completed for Early September so please be patient.

There is some information we will need to withhold for the present time. Once Sky has made the official launch, this will be released.

Still no Gigabit LAN ports I still think it is absolutely ridiculous that Sky FORCE you to use their crappy routers and obviously it's even harder to use your own now they have moved to MER

Sky missed a trick with this very point, they should have been as standard.

Plenty of rumours inbound though, that you should be able to use your own router, obviously no official confirmation yet.

Re: Specifications of the Sky Hub SR101

Any news on whether or not it is for new customers only, if there is an upgrade fee for existing customers or whether their intention is to replace all existing routers with the SR101 over time like Virgin Media did with the SuperHub?

Oh and does "SR" stand for "Sky Router"?

Re: Specifications of the Sky Hub SR101

During the trial I have connected the Sky Hub via one of my two 1Gbit Switches. From there everything else on my LAN has been running at 1Gbit.

As for performance and reliability, I believe that overall this router has shown to be a little better than the Sagem 2504N and considerably better than the Sagem 2304n. Those who have been using the Sagem 2504N reported that the WiFi signal was better on the Sky Hub

I have pushed the WiFi to it's maximum for a period of time. It managed to achieve a throughput of 80mb/s which is also consistent with a 100mb LAN.

There are some outstanding issues. We are not allowed to discuss these so please don't ask but from the discussions in the private Beta forum I would say that Sky have the right attitude and know-how to address them. We trust that the Sky Hub will be released once these have been addressed. Those involved in the Beta Testing are still helping to contribute towards getting these issues resolved and would like this to continue for now. Understandably Sky have asked us not to discuss this for now.

As for the big question: When can you get one?

Obviously some people have been receiving this router outside the Beta group.

Forgive Sky, but the people who received one have also been helping towards the feedback process. Sky has paid attention towards the packaging as set up experience of this router and have been monitoring the feedback from those who have had the router supplied. There are also aspects regarding the first time that the router is connected. Obviously those on the Beta Forum went through this when it was first installed. Sadly it isn't possible to repeat this part of the installation process.

When this information has been made available (i.e. cost, etc.) I am sure someone, if not myself, will post it on the forum.

For the moment the Sagem 2504N continues to be the main router that Sky are shipping to new customers.

No idea. What does the 'DRX' on the Amstrad STBs stand for?

It is notable that it is called the 'Sky Hub' in line with BT's HomeHub and VM's 'Super Hub'.
