Gigabit switch is peanuts, just plug one of these in and have 4 usable gigabit ports:
TP-Link 5-Port Gigabit Unmanaged Desktop Switch (TL-SG1005D) Plastic Case: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories
BT Infinity 2 FTTC (19/09/2012) - Sync: 52 Mbps / 9 Mbps - (Would consider Sky if static IP available).

Re: Specifications of the Sky Hub SR101

For those who are happy to open up their Laptops, it is possible to change the WiFi adaptor to one that will support 300mbps. This would at least make the most of the 144mbps.

However I can't say that this would make me happy. Although I changes the WiFi adaptors in the two Laptops that I have, I also bought a router capable of supporting 1Gbit LAN and 300mb WiFi on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies.

For those who are not technically knowledgeable, it is no good say that two different laptops running at 72mbps would cause the router to run at 144mbps. What actually happens is the router would just share the WiFi traffic between them at no more than the connection speed which they are connecting at.

If a 3rd laptop were connecting at 54mbps then the signal will be interrupted briefly whilst the other laptop communicates.

I hope this waffle makes sense to someone.

Basically I believe it would be better for all new laptops in the shops now to be sold with a built in 300mb WiFi N certified adaptor as a minimum. It would be better to supply them top end Laptops with a WiFi adaptor which can support both 2.4 & 5GHz channels and speeds upto 450mb/s.

Agreed; we need 5GHz and 3 stream support everywhere to give the N specification a chance of co-existing with other N and G routers, especially in built up areas. That's without using 40mhz wide channels. (For those with Apple kit, note that Apple doesn't support 40mhz at 2.4 GHz only at 5 GHz).

Whilst all the speed hungry people (including myself) would like all these things, as a router for new people or those with only basic information, this router is definitely IMHO going to fit in very well.

The installation process has been made very friendly. Provided that new customers read the packaging instead of ripping it apart like a Christmas present, there should be no problems.

Re: Specifications of the Sky Hub SR101

I have finally been able to check out the hack for the Sagem 2504 to generate the login details for the SR101. Sadly this failed.

I am sure that someone else on the forum will have a go at cracking this soon enough though.

      And........

11 minutes is more than enough time to suss it out.

Re: Specifications of the Sky Hub SR101

Tried those and no joy. Perhaps someone on fibre could capture the traffic and confirm what is actually sent and we could work from there?

Obviously the information would have to be sent via email or PM though.
