It looks like your wireless adapter is not getting an address from the DHCP server. Can you first go into the Sky router settings and ensure that 'Use Router as DHCP Server' is ticked. It probably is but better to check anyway.

On your Laptop, unplug any ethernet cable, open a Command Prompt and run it with Administrator privileges. Type ipconfig /all This will show the wireless adapters IP address and the Gateway it is trying to use. If the IP is in the range 192.168.0.xx and the Gateway 192.168.0.1, then all appears OK. So try a release/renew, to do this type ipconfig /release hit Enter then type ipconfig /renew Enter. Reboot the Laptop.

If it shows an IP something like 169.254.xxx.xxx then you have a problem. If so, do this -At the command prompt, copy and paste (or type) the following command and then press ENTER:netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
Now type netsh winsock reset catalog
      Reboot the Laptop.

If you are still unable to connect, on your laptop go to the Network Sharing centre and click Change adapter.
Right click the Wireless adapter and select Properties.
Highlight Internet Protocol v4 and click the Properties button.
Select Use this IP address and put in-
      192.168.0.100
      255.255.255.0
      192.168.0.1

      208.67.222.222
      208.67.220.220
      Reboot the Laptop.

Did this and still no success. The sky wifi I was able to connect and get internet access. The Netgear again was able to connect but no internet access.

Frustrating to the point of throwing the netgear router out of the window.
