      Re: Problem with Router :(

You should be able to use any Sky router on any suitable Sky connection. I understand that there can be a delay for a Sky router to sync for the first time on Fibre connection which can be as long as an hour. Other than the router or PSU being faulty, the only other issues would be if a previous owner had the router blocked (i.e. failure to pay the bills) or was using the log in details.

Since your friend's router didn't work, I would suspect the Internet connection is at fault.

Your profile doesn't indicate where you are. There have been quite a few issues across the country this week. I suspect that some will be related to the weather. Please check the section linked below as this shows which areas have had issues and there are links to the relevant section on the Sky website so you can see if they might have been resolved.

      Sky Broadband Service Status

      PlusNet Fibre since Jan 2021
Previously Sky Fibre & Sky BB since 2010.

      Re: Problem with Router :(

Thanks for your reply,I'm from Wolverhampton, west midlands and rang sky again earlier and said I could try getting any router from a friend that I know is 100% working and call sky back and they can check the line again to see if it's my router or not,so I'm going to get my friends router which I know is working and call sky back

      Thanks again

There is a good chance Sky's attempt to upgrade the firmware has bricked the router.

Providing you don't have any voice issues and you've tried another working router at the test socket (no extensions used and another filter tried), then it requires a broadband Openreach engineer.

      Re: Problem with Router :(

I borrowed a working router from my relative and rang sky back and sky said they have picked up the signal on that one,so it my router that has gone faulty and I've ordered another from Sky
