    No internet - solid amber light

      No internet - solid amber light

      Had Sky BB since last August with no problems til now. Lost internet overnight on Thurs with solid amber light on router. Did all usual checks, spoke to Sky during Friday, went through their checks but could not find fault, so sending out new router. Internet briefly came back on Friday evening but lost it about midnight.

      There are no faults reported at my exchange. No problems with my phone line.

      I dont have another router to check so having to wait a week.

      Does this sound like a router problem? Could it be its PSU?

      it could be the PSU do u have a Spare DSL cable at all? if you try that it could be your old one is damaged if not I'm afraid you'll have to wait

      i'd try taking the faceplate off your phone socket and plugging your router direct into the test socket and change the filter. Seems an odd one to be sure.

      Tried test socket, different ADSL cable, micro filter, but still solid amber.

      Rebooted router, reset router, reinstalled firmware.

      Just got a feeling another router will not solve the problem.

      If I borrow any router, can I use it to check my internet connection?

      If you can get hold of another Sky router from a friend or relative, then it will work. Do swap the router and PSU at the same time.

      If you happen to have a non-Sky router, then in many cases the PSUs have very much the same or similar specifications and it would be fine to use it for the short term if the connector is the same.

      I have the same and we were cut off a few days ago it could well be an auth fault if you haven't been

      Speed is really slow. About 1Mbps, instead of about 7Mbps.
