      Great news!

I would highly recommend that you change the following:
      • The WiFi name (SSID) to one of your own choosing (don't use family name or home number/name to influence your choice)
      • WiFi password

Both these are set by Sky and the previous own may have them logged on his/her computer. All Sky WiFi passwords are 8 capital letters and are easy to crack IMHO. Changing both the SSID and WiFi key will help.

Someone messed up when they created the firmware.

Use 54g Auto (of 54g Performance). This should provide you with the max WiFi speed of 144mbps. Use inSSIDer to verify it.

Re: New SKY N router can I buy on eBay and works ...

I swapped the Sagem F@ST 2304n for the Sagem F@ST 2504n and wifi is defiantly faster/reliable

I have my laptop (wifi) in upstairs room with router in downstairs room

The main issue I had with the 2304n was interference from the washing machine /fridge, even combo boiler firing up, so far that has not happened

Range.. I have walked around the house/garden with iPhone and so far appears to be an improvement

All in all, for 26 inc P&P on eBay I'm a happy puppy

Out of interest, could you plug in the Sagem 2304n and compare the signal strength using inSSIDer?

As the iPhone can connect at 300mbps you will benefit from the faster connection speed.

      Many thanks.

Signal strength between the Sky F@ST2504N (latest) versus the Sky F@ST2304N using InSSIDer

Laptop upstairs, 2 routers downstairs, all doors closed, kitchen white goods and combo boiler running
