      Question Reflashing Old Netgear Router back To Sky

      i see a thread on here a good few years ago about flashing your sky router with netgears own firmware, my brothers routers just packed in and he's looking to have mine, i'm now with O2.

      any links to a thread that'll show me how to reflash it back to sky

      It is unlikely you would be able to do it using the Web GUI, you would probably need to use the Recovery Utility and reverse the process. Remember that the Utility does not run too well on anything later than XP. Better use that if possible.

      It is not really necessary to return it to Sky firmware, if you get either its, or his routers username and password and put them into the settings, it should connect.

      ok,

      i've reinstalled sky's firmware using the recovery feature, eeprom erased, flashed & verified

      gave the router to my brother, he's saying there looks to be 2 versions on it, as there is now one named xxxxx(2)

      any ideas??

      i do have the orignal netgear.cfg file, if this helps, how do i use it??

      I am not sure about the two versions, hardly seems possible if the eprom was erased. What to try is a reset, push a pin in the reset hole on the rear and hold it there for about 10 secs, or till the lights flash. This should return it to its clean original state with the Sky settings.

      You can restore the .cfg file if you want but this will only return the personal settings. To restore it, go to Backup Settings under Maintenance, click Restore settings and browse to where you have saved the .cfg file.

      update

      he says he's deleted the 2nd profile?? last night, but the router would'nt work, but the profile was there again today, he's reset the router, deleted the profile and it's working.
