      Yeah that was a mistake on my part due to lack of research during purchase, I have an old 8 port 100Mbit switch lying around anyway that still seems to work, so will set that up to give the PS3 and Xbox a port each as well.

      Thanks again for all your help, after copious rebooting the speed is tolerable now, would setting up DMZ have any positive effect ?

      The 8-port Switch would allow you to place the AP is a better position away from the TV, which could be interfering with the WiFi signal.

      As for placing it in the DMZ, don't do that as it would only by-pass the firewall on the Sagem.

      Fair enough, I actually don't think the speed was related to the AP, I think it was actually Ubuntu throwing a wobbly with large downloads, a quick reinstall and its flying along, and DL speeds are roughly in line with the rest of the network.
