      Internet unidentified network issue!

hi, just got old netgear replaced with a new router SAGEMCOM 2304N SKY

the problem im having is that i cannot connect to the internet through my desktop. it works fine in other machines but i keep getting unidentified network when i connect it to my pc.

sky customer service could not help me with this issue either.

my ipv4 is manually done even with my old netgear but it does not work with my new sagemcoom router even if i try the automatic option. ive tried re installing my Ethernet drivers and everything it still dont work.

im currently running on windows 7 and tried setting the ip manually, resetting, updating drivers but nothing is working.

i also have windows xp that i use as a backup and the internet connects (through manual ip configuration) but does not work and i am only sending small packets and not receiving any. im out of options and have no clue what do now. does any have any solutions?? is there any settings im missing out?

      my system specs are

      windows 7 ultimate
      8GB RAM
AMD PHENOM II 555 Processer Black Edition
N68C-S UCC Mother board with nforce 605

      please help

Open the Network and sharing centre by clicking on the little icon near the time, bottom right hand side and then clicking the link.

Where it says connect or disconnect, you should see next to connections the name of your connection.

ie Mine says local connection 4

      Click this

Then click properties, then highlight Internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4)

      Then click properties

      You can either put a tick in obtain an IP address automatically and then do the same for obtain DNS server address automatically or;

Set up a static IP for the PC

      By ticking the use the following IP address ;

IP Address - 192.168.0.10 (or whatever higher than 0)
      Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0
      Default Gateway - 192.168.0.1

Then DNS click the use the following DNS server address

      Preferred - 192.168.0.1

Then click OK and see if that works?

Have you changed the network to Home Network in the network and sharing centre?

I had this problem when I changed to Sky bb 2 weeks ago.

      Re: Internet unidentified network issue!

Open Network and Sharing Center' from the control panel.
Your active network will be displayed. Look for the 'Public network' text next to the network's icon, and click on it (it is a link). That will launch a dialog that will let you pick the category for the network.

Just google for "change network to home from public windows 7" there are lots of similar queries but essentially this is all you need to do.

That was the problem I had.
You need to get it set to Home network again.

You should be set to Home Network, not public. I think this may be your problem as when set to Public, tighter Firewall restriction are applied. Click Public network and screen will come, up select Home Network on that The next screen will tell you you are now a Home network. Change all your adapters back to 'Obtain address automatically'.

      Re: Internet unidentified network issue!

      hi,

ive tried everything that was advised above but i still cannot get it to work. currently im tethering my connection through my phone as i cannot find a solution for the unidentified network issue.

i tried flushing and resetting. could it be a faulty hardware? or anything of that matter?
