Sky Sagem F@st router as wireless accesspoint

      Hi,

      Please can someone help?

I have 2 exactly the same routers (sagem f@st 2504), and I want to use the 2nd as a wireless access point to allow Internet and LAN access to my pc's upstairs (not connected to the adsl line)

I noticed that there are wireless access point settings in the config... but not sure on what I need to do, if anything at all.

      any ideas?

      Thanks :-)

Take a read of the document in this thread:

I would also recommend that you check the both routers have the latest firmware. Currently this is '2.8Sky'.

      http://192.168.0.1/sky_router_status.html

On the WiFi settings you can change the security settings to 'WPA2-PSK (AES)' or 'WPA/WPA2-PSK (Mixed Mode)' with this firmware. These are a little more secure than the default 'WPA-PSK'.

Please note that if you change the security settings, but leave the SSID the same, then you will need to delete the WiFi details from your computer or mobile.

What you can do is to set the Name (SSID) to the same on both routers, as well as the password. This would mean that if you were using a Laptop, you could walk between the two routers and it should maintain a connection between the two routers.

Do ensure that each uses a different WiFi channel, whether they have the same name or not.
