Any chance DG934 firmware update for WPA2?

With new type routers being supplied to new customers i suppose the older routers like the DG934 will not be updated with fimware to allow a better security setting WPA2.

I have just got a laptop to use downstairs and have pc upstairs,i want the wireless to be as secure as possible but the sky router only has wpa.

I thought sky would have updated the firmware a while back because security is a priority and as the router is after all wireless its very annoying.
I want the flexability of wireless so another router is the only option i guess..

Re: Any chance DG934 firmware update for WPA2?

I know that the original Netgear router (DG834GT) recently had a firmware update released. Around the same time someone posted to say that there is one is the works for the DG934G, so I would suggest it will be a matter of time.

The main thing that Sky appears to be interested in is getting people off WEP for WiFi and also get them on to MER for Internet connection.

I have tried it. It works OK then after a while (a few hours) it downgrades back to the old firmware. I don't know why Sky have not released it, it has been available for a long time.

I have the image if you want to try it.

You may be OK, of the 3 times I tried it, I never got more than 12 hours, before it reverted back.

That was without a reboot, it just did it automatically.

Re: Any chance DG934 firmware update for WPA2?

I'd suggest rebuilding the gpl firmware Netgear provided with a modified version number to match the current one, that ought to stop it downgrading.

You'd need to be running Linux, and to unpack the target directory and edit target/usr/etc/version then run a program to update the image with the changes. I think I did actually build one myself when I was bidding on some dg934G.

Re: Any chance DG934 firmware update for WPA2?

Router rebooted after 375 hours and the updated firmware has been kept, also i have been using the sky router tool but after recent DLM are capped at 3096kbps.

Before the reboot the sky router tool said max rate down= 3992kbps.
After the reboot the sky router tool says.

Max Rate: 4532 Kbps 875 Kbps
      Attenuation: 54 dB 33 dB
SNR Margin: 13 dB 14 dB
      ADSL Mode: ADSL_G.dmt.bis
      Channel: INTERLEAVED
Average Error Rate: 0.19 CRC Errors/hr.

Even the SNR down is higher and that shows the line is still capped.
