if you bought the router from sky you should get the CD in the box but given others the cd is bad because it means that who ever you send it to will have there details on it. for example if I created a ISO image of my CD it would contain my details

If you're going to buy another router to replace the sky one I wouldn't do that as it invalidates your T&Cs. Its much better to buy a decent WiFi Access point and connect it to the router. You'll get a much better signal.

Maybe you should read the forum

Hundreds here, and probably thousands nationwide use their own routers. Provided you do not ask Sky for assistance with it, they do not cause any problems.

Missed this at the time, but it should be corrected. The CD supplied with the router is generic and does not contain any personal information whatsoever. If the CD is the correct version there is no reason why it, or its contents, cannot be used by another user.

I have read the forum and its still better to get a dedicated Wireless access point if you want the best signal and coveragre.

It depends on what modem/router you use. The better ones give an equal if not better coverage than a wireless access point and have the advantage of only using one device, rather than two. Generally we would advise a newbie who does not have the confidence to set up their own router to use a wireless N router connected to the Sky router as this is less likely to go wrong.
