      Re: 2504N Router

      Hello again,
I disconnected the ethernet cable from my router and set it up wireless, it is now running at 130Mbps, so it must be the ethernet connection on my motherboard only runs to 100Mbps, my wireless card is a 300Mbps card. My download speed was still 598Kbps
I tried my old 934DG router to see what download speed i would get, it connected at 5377Kbps, i then changed back to my new 2504N router and it connected at 5906Kbps, i don't know what i did but that is great, so i will carry on and see how things go.
Thank-you very much for everyones help, by for now.

      Ross Anthony.

A few months back I wanted to upgrade the router Sky had sent me out when I joined in September 2010 (D -Link router) for the 2504N. I specified that I wanted this model when I phoned Sky and I received this model, it cost me 35.

I have just noticed that my router has changed channel from 11 to 6, this may be why i am nw getting a much better download speed.

      Re: 2504N Router

The only thing the channel will change is your wireless reception. It will make no difference to your actual download speed. Has your firmware been updated? This is the only thing I can think of that would change your Channel, apart from doing it manually of course.

      Re: 2504N Router

I'm considering getting one of these 2504 N type routers from SKY and understand that ones computer must be "N type" compatible so how do I check that my computers (PCs and Macs and android phones and iTouch) support 802.11n and not just 802.11b/g?

      Thanks

You will have to look up each items specifications. This will show whether it is g or g/n rated. In the case of the PCs and Macs, these probably have plug in adapters, you would need to look at each adapters specs. Older models of the iphone and itouch were only g, new ones n.

      Re: 2504N Router

      Hello Again,
Could anyone tell me if my router firmware is the up to date version, it is 5.23.1a4N, if this is not the up to date version will my router update on it's own eventually.

      Thanks
      Ross Anthony.
