Question What am I doing wrong.

I am having problems connection at anything other than 54Mbps.

My set up is Sky's N router set to 54g Performance

Laptop with Wifi adaptor intel 1000 BGN - N mode enabled

and still when I look at my connection using inSSIDer it shows 54Mbps.

My connection is good and solid but I am not achieving what I thought I should be.

      Any help would be appreciated.

As your internet speed will not be anywhere near 54mbps, it is unlikely to make much difference. It appears that the firmware for the 2504N has not been set properly so the N speed does not appear. Choose the top rate available and this should raise the wireless speed to about 150mbps.

Cheers, swapped from 54g Performance to auto and swapped channels too as neighbour was on the same one and now inSSIDer is reporting 144!!!

Re: What am I doing wrong.

It was rather stupid of Sky allowing firmware which had not been properly tested. I expect they will fix it with an upgrade in due course. Being forced to use Auto is not really a good solution.
