Need help extending Sky Router wifi distance

I have just joined the forum after a few days frustration in trying to find information on extending my Sky Netgear (not sure if V1 or V2 does not say on the box but it is the black one if that helps) Router's wifi distance to cover my whole house (little or no signal in my bedroom).

I purchased a Netgear WG602v4 modem to that end. I plug the ethernet lead into my laptop, all modem lights are on (but is anyone home??) then when I try and configure the modem using the address (as shown on the modem back and literature) I generally get a Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage messge back or occassionally I get the sign in box but when I type in the default admin/password the box just keeps displaying, if I keep doing this then I get
      System Authentication Failed.

Please contact your system administrator for the correct information.
As you can imagine this is driving me nuts. Can anyone advise what I can/should do?? I live in hope.....

      System Authentication Failed.
This usually means you have used the incorrect username or password. These should be admin and password, both in lower case. Try resetting the AP by pushing a pin into the reset hole on the rear, then try again.

I am not sure if the DHCP server will be enabled, if it is not, you will have to give the PC a fixed address. subnet and gateway.

Open a command Prompt and type ipconfig /all then hit enter. This should show the address of the PC and the AP..
