My new F@ST2504n router behaving bizarrely

I am a new customer, and have just had my Sky broadband activated. I use both a wired and wireless connection. For one day I had no problems, but ever since I changed the password and name of the router, problems began to happen.

      1) I don't have access to many websites I used to, like hotmail
      2) My VPN connection doesn't work any more

Both used to work (if only for a day) pre the changing of the router name and password

I'm based in North London, not Halifax! so as far as I know there are no blackout around me.

I was thinking of restoring the router back to the factory settings, would this be the best bet? and would it be a fairly easy thing to do,

If this problem cannot be fixed at my end I'm seriously thinking of cancelling my contract as there were separate issues I had with sky prior to this.I don't know if I have the stamina to deal with Sky technical support so any help here is much appreciated.

If you have Win vista or Win 7, ensure that the network is listed as 'Private' not 'Public'. This may indicate where the problem is.

If that appears to be fine, then I would consider resetting the router.

It is possible that you have accidentally changed something else by mistake.

Also, just in case, when changing the WiFi settings it is good practise to do so with a wired connection. The only exception to this is when changing the WiFi channel.

As for changing the SSID & Password, this is good practise IMHO. Sky's default setting is to create an 8 character password made up from capital letters only. This is easily cracked by some software available on-line. Many other members have been able to change these without any problems.

We are aware issues with secure Web sites are affecting some customers in London as well.
