Router keeps dropping the connection several times a day

      Hi everyone,

My router keeps dropping the connection to 2 of my laptops and my 360 several times a day, usually just for 30-60 seconds then it reconnects

I checked the router stats but system uptime (WAN, LAN, WLAN) are all showing as System Up Time: 91:34:14 so it's not like it's disconnecting or the router is rebooting

I can't see it being a problem with both of my laptops and my 360 though, it must be the router. Will Sky replace it for free or send someone out to have a look?

Edit: it's the Sagem F@ST btw

Have you set a channel in the router or are you on automatic? Being set to Auto seems to cause this problem. Download Inssider from the link below and use it to discover the channels in use in your area. Set your channel to one as far from those in use as possible.

Re: Router keeps dropping the connection several times a day

      Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I've downloaded the software and mine is running on channel 1 along with 2 others. 3 are running on 6, and 3 on 11

However, mine and another BT router on channel 1 have high higher amplitude than the rest

Should I be switching it to something like channel 3/4 or 8/9?

      Thanks again

Edit: there's 9 always there, but a few others keep showing up (one on channel 1, one on channel 6, etc..)

I would try channel 13, although it is lapped by 11, you might get a better response. It looks like you might be getting a lot of interference from the BTHH on channel 1, so the farther you are from that the better. If you don't get a good signal, you can always change it back.

      Thanks, set it to 13

Is this any better? I took the screenshot when my attenuation was as high as it went (about -50)

I guess now I just leave it and see what happens?

If they used channels 5 and 9 13 would be perfect lol

That looks OK, its just a case of trying it over a period and see how your devices perform.

Channels 1, 6 and 11 are the non overlapping channels in UK.
