It might be fairer to compare stats on the same connection between the Sky router and your own router.

My own stats are in my signature.

In my case there was an improvement from the Netgear DG934G to either the Sagem 2304n & Netgear DGND3700. To confirm things, I've posted the latest router stats below.

The differences in the up times are due to me & someone else playing with the WiFi, connection speed & me unplugging a Network Switch.

In your specific case I would not expect you to improve your connection stats too much unless you started to tweak the settings.

Personally I don't believe that you would be best advised to tweak the settings. Please don't misunderstand me, but I think you would be best to get a router suited to your own line and leave it un-tampered in that respect.

Another thing that you could do would be to take your laptop for a walk in your local neighbourhood.

if you have inSSIDer running, you could pick up all the different WiFi routers and look at the list of different makes when you return home. It will be obvious in many cases as to which ISP someone is with as most include their name in the SSID. These you could quickly remove from your investigation, but others will be less clear.

For a start it could help to purchase a router whose chipset is matched to the equipment that you are connected to.

      http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/askin...est-speed.html

It will also help to have a more powerful router and it will be able to cope better with the traffic you are putting through it. In your case though, I know that you like to play on-line games, but I can't recall how much heavy downloading you do.

Also I don't know if you stream any video or music content over you LAN or from the Internet.

With regards to the Sky LLU equipment that you are connected to, which chipset does it have?

      Not that one.

Read post 6 and look at the link to another thread there. That is what you need to know.
