      My Sagem Router has died

My Sagem Router is refusing to boot.
On powering up the 4 ethernet switch LEDs and the 2nd and 4th LED come on (green) and that's it. There is no change in this display implying that it is not going throgh its boot sequence.

I've tried the red reset button but this has no effect.

I can't connect to the router because its DHCP server is not working.

Sky broadband support told me it might be the power supply (AC adaptor) and is sending me a new one and if that doesn't work then they will send me a new router.
So it is likely that I will be without Internet at home for at least a week allowing for postal delays etc.

I've measured the output of the adapter and it appears to outputting 12V DC OK.

Is the AC adaptor a known problem with the Sagem routers or do you think that I will probably need a new router?

It likely is the PSU with those light sequences. By all means, if you have a spare 12v PSU that you could try in the meantime, then give it a go and double check.

Delivery times stated are 3-5 working days, but most seem to receive goods in 2-3 at most.

      Thanks for the reply.

I'll cross my fingers and hope that it is the PSU as I don't want to wait another few days for a new router.

The Sky broadband support guy said that it was a common problem with the Sagem router.

It is a common problem with the Sagem PSUs, it comes up a lot on the forum. If you have another 12v PSU with the correct plug, you could try that.

Just for your info, I got a new router (D-Link) recently. I spoke to Sky CST on the Tuesday afternoon and new router arrived by courier on the Thursday lunch time.

Re: My Sagem Router has died

I borrowed a 12V power supply from work and the ADSL Router has been working all weekend.

I guess that this was the problem.

Hopefully my replacement AC Adaptor from Sky will arrive in the next day or two.

Re: My Sagem Router has died

The PSUs supplied with Sagems seem to be very poor. The ones supplied with the DG934G look and feel the same but don't seem to fail so often. The ones supplied with the DG834GT weigh about the same as a house brick and seem to go on forever,

I agree with you about the PSUs. I got a replacement in the post from Sky. It lasted about 2 days then the router locked up. LEDs were frozen, no Internet access and I could not even log in to the router.

I've swapped back to the PSU that I got from work and everything has been working OK for the last few days.
Fortunately they said that I can keep the one from work so I will stick with that and bin the new one that I got from Sky.

Re: My Sagem Router has died

I had the same problem. Sky think this is a PSU problem and said they would send new PSu out with a 3-5 day delivery estimate. Contacted them after 8 days without any trace of new PSU to be told that there was some sort of supply problem with this PSU. They have ordered another one and I might recieve it in another week. Not a happy bunny !
