Can you please confirm your location and post your speedtest result from this website.

Your modem should be SRA compatible so your speed should go up on it's own within the next few days. If you reboot your router meanwhile it will take longer for your speed to go up.
      South Harrow.

Speed test results (from both speedtest.net and thinkbroadband.com) vary wildly. I'm seeing 14mbps/20mbps up/download speeds at the moment, although I've seen everything from 8mbps thru' 22mbps download today.

      Regards
      Paul

      @ Paul:

Can you post the results of a traceroute to bbc.co.uk. To do so go to CMD and type 'tracert bbc.co.uk'

      Yep... Same Paul!

      The tracert you wanted...

      Tracing route to bbc.co.uk [212.58.241.131]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

      1 1 ms 1 ms <1 ms 192.168.2.1
      2 6 ms 6 ms 6 ms dr0.bllon.isp.sky.com [89.200.128.36]
      3 6 ms 6 ms 6 ms vl190.ar8.bllon.isp.sky.com [89.200.135.170]
      4 8 ms 7 ms 7 ms 212.58.238.189
      5 8 ms 7 ms 7 ms 212.58.238.129
      6 7 ms 7 ms 7 ms virtual-vip-231.thdo.bbc.co.uk [212.58.241.131]

      Trace complete.

I had some challenges changing the DHCP scope and router LAN address. Seemed that when I changed it, the router failed to connect. Luckily, it seems that if you default the config, it downloads a new version from somewhere.

So, the good news: my VOIP server works over it okay, which is nice, because I gave up trying to get a Netgear and a Draytek working on my old Sky Broadband line and stuck with Sky's own router.

The bad news: no built in Dynamic DNS client (not major - I just ran a client on a server here instead).

The odd news: VERY variable speeds. Download can be anything from 7mbps (with 8mbps upload) here right up to 30mbps download speed.

      Hi Paul,

Thank you for the trace route. Regarding your slow speeds I guess they call it a trial for a reason. But still your upstream is fantastic.

Also, Have you been given a contact at Sky? The reason I ask is when plusnet conducted their fttp trials (they still are) they used their forum to communicate with members on their trial. You could basically troubleshoot everything and ask for help there. The Bods were also able to re-profile your line if you were experiencing slow speeds.

The ping is crap but it is definitely FTTP.

Re: Sky FTTH Trial - router admin ID/password

Just to wrap up this thread, I plugged a PC directly into the router (avoiding any problems with other network gear here interfering with my testing) and unplugged everything else.

speedtest.net initially started out at 114mbps, before dropping to a more realistic 96mbps download and 28mbps upload. However, this was with the Custodian Data Centre in Maidstone - other test servers (especially TranceFM in London) would give consistently lower speeds:

However, whilst using iPlayer on the Wii last night, that kept dropping out (with an 'out of bandwidth' message), so I don't think we're home and dry yet. Guess that's why it's called a trial...!
