      Re: Router needs rebooting

I'm not familiar with the specs of the PS3, so I've just taken a look on Wikipedia.

It appears that all the current models only support up to WiFi g (54mbps).

PlayStation 3 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you are having problems streaming media, then I would recommend that you consider attaching it to a wired LAN.

If a long Ethernet cable is unsuitable, then take a look at installing a pair of HomePlugs.

An Ethernet cable could be run through a wall socket. Ethernet cable is relatively quite cheap at the present moment. So long as there are no sharp bends, you can it up to 100m.

HomePlugs essentially work invisibly and can run between electrical sockets. They don't work well on Surge Protected extensions or where the electrical wiring is poor quality. Ideally aim to get a pair that support 100mb or 200mb. You can get slower and members have reported that the 85mb versions are fine. There are now 1Gbit versions available, but the Sky router only supports 100Mb.

Also aim to purchase a pair that has a 'pass-though' electrical socket. This means that you don't lose an electrical point.

There are a few different types, PCI, PCMIA and USB which this is one-

Netgear 108Mbps Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter WG111TGE - Laptops Direct

I doubt if this would work with a PS3.

If you are intent on wireless you would be better getting a wireless N router and piggy backing it on to the Sky router. Something like this would be suitable - [ame=http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-WA901ND-Advanced-Wireless-Access/dp/B002YETVXC/ref=pd_sim_computers_6]TP-Link TL-WA901ND Advanced Wireless N Access Point: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories[/ame]

Your last wireless suggestion seems a good option.... I need to see if I can order it through my financial controller (wife) ... Need a solid business case...
