Just phoned. The system apparently won't let them send out another router until this one has been returned, so I have to post it back, wait, phone up again, wait...

I would be politely making a serious fuss if I were in your position.

You specifically asked for the WiFi n router and was instead supplied the Sagem F@ST 2304n.

As far as I would be concerned it is their mistake.

Sure you should go ahead and return the Sagem 2304n at their expense, but in the mean time they should promptly dispatch a Sagem F@ST 2504N.

If there is any question over your actions, remember that Sky records all their telephone calls.

The guy I spoke to was helpful, and fully accepted that the previous guy I talked to got it completely wrong... But, according to him, the system would not allow him to issue a router upgrade until the other one was returned.

The system won't, but a manager can and should.

Re: Sky's new Wireless 'N' Router...

The only way currently to order the N router is through the system as its a hardware upgrade and costs 35. If you have been given incorrect information and were promised the N router, they will take the 35 payment, and ask a manager to refund it straight away.

So after reading this - it would appear that the Wireless N router is out and about in the open and avaliable for purchase.

Just a couple of questions in regards to it.

First up - For those that have replaced the white V1 router - how much of a range increase has been noticed? I ask this as - as currently we have a PC that sits in one room of our house that is running wireless - despite laptops picking up signal just fine in that room - the Pc itself seems to get it alot weaker - and we're just wondering if the range increase would actually warrant us picking this new router up.

Secondly - how much into haggling has anyone tried with Sky in order to get this ? In the past we've had to pull out a few statements that have lead to a few privlidges - and was wondering if there was any chance of trying such a thing with success in order to pick one of these up for free.

      Many thanks.

I Got it free, had to threaten to leave as I was out of contract they agreed...I said to them did they want to loose 60 a month (includes tv) and ill spend that at virgin (who will give me an n router free) they said of course not, and sent it free....

However the only way they could order this is, I had to pay the 35 and then they discounted my next bill by 35

Wrong my friend, I got it free! just threaten to leave, as dont forget other providers will provide a free N router they would rarther keep my 60 per month than loose it for the sake of 35.

They had to ask me to pay for the router and gave me 35 off the next bill, cannot complain and it is the 2504N too

Well, my N router is finally on the way. I eventually got someone to send it out correctly last week, and it's currently being "processed" at the Parcelforce national depot...
