      Sagem F@ST2304 - RDP Port Forwarding Problem

      I'm trying to set up a remote desktop connection so I am able to access my computer from outside of the network but I am struggling.

      The machine I want to access has a static IP within the network of 192.168.0.99

      I am able to access this machine in RDC using 192.168.0.99:3389, but cannot access it from outside the network (using networkIP:3389) despite setting up port forwarding on the router.

      I have added a port forwarding service for TCP/3389 and added this service as an ingoing and outgoing service in 'firewall rules' but it just doesn't work.

      Below is a screenshot of what I have set up:



      Anyone got any ideas of what I could be doing wrong or anything I haven't done??

      Have you considered using Logmein?

      I find the free version very useful and haven't experienced many issues.

      You don't need to add any outbound rules as everything is allowed by default so delete that. You seem to have correctly added the inbound rule. However RDC is also blocked by default at Windows firewall level and this needs to be unblocked. If you are using a third-party firewall I would like to imagine that by default it would block RDC too.

      It's quite easy to allow access to remote connections via the windows firewall but it varies with version of the OS. If you have trouble finding it let me know the version of your OS and I'll try to dig the exact steps for you.

      I wasn't sure about the outbound rule but I added it just incase while I was trying to get it to work. I've deleted it now though.

      I have tested this with Windows Firewall turned off and it still doesn't seem to work.

      Is the port actually open?
      Input your ip address and the port number in one of the port checker websites and see what you get..

      It turns out it was set up correctly, but you just can't access it from within the network by using the network IP. I tried it at work and it connected fine.
