If you take out the wires from the back of the test socket and stick them into terminal 2 and 5 directly on your faceplate you should be able to test whether your master socket is faulty or not.

If you are not comfortable doing this temporarily and reverting back just leave it to the OR engineer.

If the phone drops out too I wonder what routing your cable it taking? Under the carpet? Under any floor boards?

Have you tried swapping it back? May have just been a loose connection.

No, I had previously loosened it off, made sure it was tight and had a good connection so there is no need to to do it again

Glad it's nothing complicated. When Sky CST will get in touch an engineer will be booked who will come and replace it for free.
If you are not interested in waiting you can do it yourself. I don't think the nte5 is a very expensive item.

I've waited long enough for Sky to pull their fingers out, I think I will just pop to Maplin or Screwfix and do it myself

Run-it-Direct could sell you a complete NTE5 socket, Filtered Faceplate & IDC Tool. Everything could be with you early next week.

You could leave your existing socket where it is for the weekend.

It may also be worth obtaining a new length of cable to run from the BT80 connector to your NTE5 socket.
