      Looking for a new Router

I've recently noticed that my wireless internet does not go far enough with my current Sky router.

I'm thinking about getting another one which goes further.

Can anyone suggest one on Amazon.co.uk and give me the approx. distance that it will go?

      Thanks

If you are only getting a download of 30kbps, then there is something more then your wireless wrong. Post your stats from your present position and from the Test socket.

That is still a rubbish speed, unless you are about 10 miles from your exchange. If you mean 100 Kilobytes per sec, that means you are syncing at about 800kilobits per second, which is very low.

If you don't want further advice and really want to get a new router, have a look at this post by Exdee, which makes some recommendations..

Click the links on post 2 for instructions on getting your stats.Copy and paste them to your post.

You are not going to get a great speed, but by your distance from the exchange you should be in the 3-6Mb range

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1020 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 61 db 37 db
Noise Margin 8 db 10 db

Interesting. If I could get 3-6 Megabits then I'd be over the moon

Now from the Test socket, instructions in the same post, use only the ADSL cable supplied by Sky to the socket, no telephone extensions.

I've got a special faceplate that I'm sure uses the test socket. I will try when no one is online at night though.
