I am able to get it working using PPPoA. I am not able to get it working on the MER at present.

I called Netgear yesterday and tried to speak with someone about the issue. I was hoping that I might have got a phone call back today, but this hasn't happened.

I will try to chase them tomorrow, but have other things happening this weekend so I might be busy.

From what I understand from a previous conversation, a firmware update will be required.

It is indeed very nice. There are a few issues and a new firmware update is due to be released soon apparently to fix these. I was advised that it would be released by the end of the month, I just hope that he meant June, not July.

As for custom firmwares, this is a brand new router. Whilst it has features found on both the DGND3300 & WNDR3700, there are significant differences.

I have not tried DG Team's Firmware nor enquired on their site about it.

As and when I find out, I will post some news on this forum.

If anyone else who already has one or is thinking of getting one could chase Netgear on their forums, it would be nice as I appear to be a lone voice on there at present.

This really depends on what you want from the router.

You currently have Easynet's equipment, which would place the Broadcom chipsets in 2nd place for potential connection speed.

      http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/askin...est-speed.html

From there you need to work out whether you are looking for a router with any of the following features and what your budget can afford:

      • 10/100Mb LAN or 10/100Mb/1Gbit LAN
      • WiFi speed : 54, 65, 72, 144Mb/s (all single channel speeds) or 150, 270, 300 or 450Mb/s (all dual channel speeds)
      • WiFi frequency : Most use the the 2.4GHz only, but more are now using the 5GHz channels as well now. Not all WiFi adaptors are able to use the 5GHz channels so you may need to upgrade your computers to make the most of them
      • Features on the GUI (whilst many may be able to answer some questions, look on-line for the relevant manuals)

Another issue you may want to consider (depending on availability) is whether this router will be used only for an ADSL connection or whether you may wish to use it on a Fibre connection in the future.

As you are on Connect the best thing for you would be to move to another ISP
It does not matter what router you use you will still be on a rubbish service.
