Firmware to make Sagem F@ST 2304N full wireless N

I have read about the possibility of Sky releasing a firmware update to make this router full WiFi N compatible.

Is this true or just a rumour? Where did people get this info?

I am trying to decided if I should hold out for said firmware or buy a replacement router after my 10 days training is up.

Re: Firmware to make Sagem F@ST 2304N full wireless N

It was posted on the Sky Help Forum early last month or later April.

It was stated that the update would be rolled out this month, but at the moment we are waiting for the latest update to be rolled out fully and for people to be able to report that they are all happy.

I can't recall which post it was made in, but I'm fairly sure it was cross-posted at the time on this forum.

Re: Firmware to make Sagem F@ST 2304N full wireless N

I have been lucky with my Sagem 2304n because even before the upgrade the other day my connection only dropped once.

My main gripe with the router is that the signal is so poor. My house is small and fairly new but even so the signal is very poor (1 or 2 bars) upstairs at the back.

I ran the router connected to my D-Link DSL-2740R (full N) for a while but the extra wiring drove me nuts.

I am now back to just using the D-Link (full strength signal all over the house and garden).

If the Sagem is ever upgraded to full N (or if Sky gets the hump because I'm using my own router) I will revert to using it.

It's a shame that the routers issued by Sky are just not up to the standard of those available elsewhere.

The Sagem 2304n benefits from sitting on it's end, with the 'S' from the Sky Logo on the front being uppermost.

It is interesting to read your comments with regards to the strength compared with another router.

I'd have to agree with this comment.

The routers supplied by Sky are really quite basic in comparison to others.

This is the first router released by Sky that isn't strictly WiFi g or less; WiFi n has been around for a few years now, even if it has only recently been ratified; USB ports are quite common on many.

There are lots more points which I could make, but this is taking it off the topic for the thread.

Maybe Sky will offer the Netgear 3700 at a discounted price for existing users

What would be the point? They would cripple it with their own firmware, the same as they did with the first Netgear router they issued.
