      Re: Sagem F@ST 2304n - New Firmware 5.14.6.1a4N

Interesting that my router seems to have been upgraded at 4:00 PM in the afternoon.

Perhaps someone has hit the panic button to try and roll the upgrade out quicker.

Tried streaming on BBC iplayer and some Youtube HD Videos.

      No buffer problems apparent.

Turned Wifi on at last although no increase in range over my existing 2Wire Router.

No 'save config to flash' feature but I think that is a fault of the router not the upgrade, but I've covered that on another thread.

      Regards

      Mike

      Re: Sagem F@ST 2304n - New Firmware 5.14.6.1a4N

Well since the firmware update, mine has been running fine.

Sky called and apologised for delay getting it sorted and offered me "Free Sky Movies for 3 months". I thanked them for the offer and accepted it.

Come the weekend, I sat down for a film and it said it wasn't part of my package. I flicked through the movies and it appeared there was only half the movie channels unlocked.

I called up to query ... seems the woman had only offered me "Sky movies 2". It was very generous of them to offer me "free movies for 3 months" ... I just wish they would have been clearer with the offer.

I guess they are hoping that I will continue subscription afterwards ... not likely!

      Re: Sagem F@ST 2304n - New Firmware 5.14.6.1a4N

Just got the update (sometime in the night).

Although I did not experience any of the problems some of you did with the previous FW the first thing I have noticed is a slightly higher synch rate both up and down... much greater increase on the up traffic.. also slightly better noise margins since the update.

      Anyone else notice this???

      Re: Sagem F@ST 2304n - New Firmware 5.14.6.1a4N

mine updated to the latest firmware at approx 6:07am this morning... Didn't have any issues with things (probably because i had disabled wireless) - Have found a few oddities, that may or may not be connected though

1/ As far as i can tell i'm being routed differently? ( ie the first hop used to be my actual exchange WNCB, but now it appears it's not(?), unless `5ad3c27e` is my exchange? :S

      Code:
      Tracing route to bbc.co.uk [212.58.254.252]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

        1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms MyRouter.Home [192.168.0.1]
        2 23 ms 24 ms 23 ms 5ad3c27e.bb.sky.com [90.211.194.126]
        3 36 ms 24 ms 26 ms 10.245.191.161
        4 33 ms 32 ms 40 ms 89.200.131.193
        5 32 ms 31 ms 35 ms 212.58.238.189
        6 40 ms 31 ms 31 ms 212.58.238.153
        7 37 ms 31 ms 32 ms rdirslb0.thdo.bbc.co.uk [212.58.224.136]
        8 40 ms 34 ms 33 ms virtual3.rbsov.bbc.co.uk [212.58.254.252]

      Trace complete.
2/ Another oddity is my IP address (and range) has completely changed, it used to be 2.216.141.x but is now 90.211.194.x

The change of your IP address would not be unusual since the router will have rebooted after the update.

Currently there are two main ranges that I can think of. These start either with '2' or '90'.

This could well have changed your route to a different Sky server as well.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

Were you on the SVBN before? It appears you are now. You seem to be going direct from your router to the Sky servers in Newcastle, then through a private address to the Easynet backbone. What is shown in your router status as the Gateway address? This would normally be the exchange but yours appears to be 90.211.194.126
90.211.194.126 - United Kingdom IP. Detailed location, ISP and more info.

Same firmware as reported in the thread, so it is the updated firmware.

tar mate cheers, certainly seems a better router than the D-Link, all the speeds etc. are the same but the wireless seems better.
