5.14.6.1 is apparently the new version.

Best way to ensure you get the update is to disable WiFi on router so it doesn't lock up

New sagemcoms with mac address beginning 7C should be going out with latest firmware.
I'm a little confused by this. I've only just joined, and my sagemcom has a mac beginning with 7C.. but my firmware is 5.14.6a4N. Does this mean I'll receive an update at some point?

I'm not actually experiencing any problems, so I hope an update doesn't cause any!

I have posted on the Sky Help Forum to ask if this update can be made available as a download option.

      This is being looked into.

When I have a response I'll update people on this forum.

Re: Sagemcom C8CD firmware updates should be happening now

      Hi all,

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one suffering with this Sagecom nonsense. I was on the phone with tech support last night and they said they were going to push a new firmware upgrade to my router, but that doesn't seem to have happened as I'm still seeing version "5.14.6a4N".

Is there a way to manually upgrade? I received an email from tech support suggesting I reload the router firmware using a tool called "srtool" on the Sky CD. Question 2: I can't find my Sky CD, can I download this tool, or the CD from somewhere?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm getting really frustrated with this whole situation.

Apparently 5000 routers upgraded so far, and is thought to be complete by 27th.

Allow up to 48hrs for a manual update to go through.

Exclamation Re: Sagemcom C8CD firmware updates should be happening now

I posted on the Sky Help Forum last night requesting that perhaps Sky could make use of their website and host a link to the file so that people can download the update for themselves.

Malcolm said that he would look into it, but has been quiet since.

As for the threads, everyone posting is asking for this link too.

It will need to come with explicit instructions. I am sure that Mel would agree, it is very easy to brick a router if you mess up a firmware update.

With all the issues currently going on, it would be useful to advise people to disable the WiFi and only do the update with a wired connection. Failing to do this is likely to brick the router in some cases. So please everyone, if we can get this link arranged, play safe.

Re: Sagemcom C8CD firmware updates should be happening now

I am quite happy using my non sky router as it is all set up and working flawlessly as I only have my HD box & main PC connected by cable and all the rest 2 x iPhone 4's, PS3 & laptop are via Wi-Fi so am undecided on whether to plug the Sagemcom back in as WI-Fi is very important to me.

If I don't plug it in in the next 4 weeks but decide to at a later date once Scubbie has changed my mind after testing it & posting her findings on here or when Sky update the firmware to enable the potential wireless n part of the this router, will I still be able to get the update?

      Cheers

Use the guide in this thread and you should be able to use the Sagem as the main router.

I haven't heard whether Sky are going to post a copy of the firmware for download yet, but I am keeping my eyes & ears open.

Sky rolled out the update to 20,000 people in the early hours of Saturday. You could have been one of the targeted people. It appears that Sky will be rolling the update to around 20,000 each night over the next 4 weeks I guess.

Some members have already got the update and are reporting that they are happy with it.

My router has still not been updated, so I can't comment on how good or bad it is.

In the mean time I've piggybacked the Netgear off the Sagem and experiencing the occasional WiFi issue as the Netgear continues to play up.
