      Sky D-link router freezing??

Hi, my Sky d-link router has started to freeze whenever it takes some heavy wifi traffic.
e.g. downloading youtube videos, torrents. It also freezes when passing traffic (FTP) between my Android phone and Laptop, again via WIFI.

Normal day to day browsing is generally fine.
I've tried a factory reset, no help.
I've phoned Sky Support and they are basically a waste of time.

Anyone shed any light on what could be causing it?
It was fine for about 6 months then it started, as its coming up 12 month old I need a fix ASAP!

      thanks

Maybe it is overheating, the sky D-link I bought got very hot. If you have it sitting horizontally, try it vertically in its stand, as it will improve the air circulation and make it run a bit cooler. But, if you find that helps, you'll definitely want to get it replaced.

Ditto to what fuzzy said, had one recently were sky had shipped the wrong PSU with the router pumping to much voltage which made things hot lol, used a laptop multi voltage adaptor and was all ok.

Slightly off topic but every reply from Sky eService Team i've read appears to be a simple copy and paste response to use their online contact centre instead of (heaven forbid) trying to help.

      Thanks folks,
      you're on the right lines!!!
I've removed the case top after my post on here, as I thought it might to overheating.
Turns out it was the cause.
Ran much better with the case off built still generated a lot of heat, and kept freezing. SO....
After 50 mins on the phone to sky, I've been sent a router. The new one is a f@st 2304 and is not getting the same 2.4ish connection speed that the d-link achieved.

      Re: Sky D-link router freezing??

My D-Link is currently connected at 6112kbps where as my old Sagem never went faster than 5220kbps.

My D-Link is also flakey with all the Android connections in our house and it resyncs when people call but given the difference in speed i am loathed to change it.

This is an indication that you may have a line fault or a microfilter which has past it's best.

You may wish to investigate further.

It isnt the filter and i am sick to the back teeth of telling Sky this, i have an ADSL Nation faceplate, Clarity faceplate, BT Openreach Faceplate, Sky supplied filter, Netgear supplied with DG834n filter, Thomson supplied Speedtouch 585v6 filter, i can assure you it isnt a filter problem.

The copper has been replaced and renewed with a single length from the pole to the back of my master socket and on the same day the line was swiched over to the other cable that runs in to our village to rule out a HR fault, i know the engineer did this as my line attenuation dropped from 54.5db to 48.5db.

I have tried no phone and bought a BT branded corded phone.

The "fault" also only became apparent once the D-Link arrived in its brown look at me i'm a refurb box.

So then given these facts is the fault:

      A) The D-Link router.

      B) The Sky equipment in the exchange.
