      Sagem F@ST 2304n & Sky+ HD STB

I'd like to ask everyone who has been affected by the issues over the Sagem 2304n router if they are also connecting their Sky STBs?

What network type do you have?

If so which Sky+ HD STBs are being connected to the router?

...and how are you connecting it? (i.e. WiFi, LAN on green port, switch, etc.)

Also what software version do you have on the STB & router?

To start the ball rolling, mine information is:

      Amstrad DRX890-C

Connected to a 5-Port Switch, which is in turn connected to the Sagem Router via a Ethernet cable to the green port.

      Sagem firmware version 5.14

      Network Type: MER

      Amstrad firmware SYSF23.80 V. 4F3101 EPG 40.0.14.11

I have not had any issues with my 2304n at all so far but just for reference I will include my details.

Amstrad DXR890-C connected directly to the green ethernet port on the router.

      Sagem firmware 5.14.6a4N

      Amstrad firmware SYS26.76 Version 4F3101 EPG 40.0.14.10

I apologize as this is a bit off topic but John is there any chance you could tell me what settings you are using for WiFi on your router as I am due to go live on 11/5 and so many other people seem to be having WiFi issues but you say everything is fine so far.

      Re: Sagem F@ST 2304n & Sky+ HD STB

      Thank you John.

The reason for me asking is because I had a similar LAN crash last night to what I'd experienced previously. I left it alone, until this morning.

Everything had been running fairly smoothly for a few days now, but I had to reset the router.

This didn't help and gradually I disconnected things and that didn't help either, so I swapped out the router for the Netgear DG934G.

Eventually I ended up putting my Netgear DGN2000 back in and traced a problem to when I was connecting my 5-Port Switch which hosts the TV & Sky STB. With the TV disconnected, the problem was still present.

I have now disconnected the Sky STB, plugged the TV in & hocked up the Switch. Things appear to be working once more, but I am unsure how things will pan out.

      Re: Sagem F@ST 2304n & Sky+ HD STB

Could we add Network Type method to this list too?

Apparently some Sagem 2504s and D-Links may be having this added.

      Re: Sagem F@ST 2304n & Sky+ HD STB

Amstrad box, not sure of the model number, connected via ethernet to a 5 port switch and then via a homeplug to the router (didn't even realise there was a green port, should I be using that?)

When I first got Sky BB, I didn't have my digibox connected at all, it was an original Thompson HD box, so not Anytime + compatible, was having problems with the 2304 even before Sky swapped out my Thompson for the Amstrad.

      Re: Sagem F@ST 2304n & Sky+ HD STB

      Thanks Gooner1.

For reference the Green port is supposed to provide a smoother pathway for the Sky STB to communicate with Sky's servers for Anytime+. Some people have 3 ports coloured green, so it may be irrelevant. If you are unsure, the green port is the one nearest to the ADSL port.

The only other time I have heard about specific ports being preferred is for some when you upgrade the firmware or wish to edit the router settings.

Most routers now apply their OS settings, for example, equally to all ports and rely on the type of service they are setting as a priority.

      Re: Sagem F@ST 2304n & Sky+ HD STB

I'll have to have a look and see where I've plugged it into.

Whether it'll make any difference as it's already going via a hompelug and a 5 port switch I don't know. Anytime+ seems to be working well as it is, and I've been hammering it pretty hard just to try it out (especially with my newly increased speed!)
