Arrow Help Wanted: Sagem F@ST 2304n WiFi issues

In the interests of collecting data on the Sagem 2304n router, could i ask any member who have one to post some screen dumps in this thread please.

      What am I looking for?

      Two things essentially:

      1. WiFi drops recorded on the router stats

      2. Pattern of the WiFi signal as seen by your Laptop using inSSIDer

I've pasted a couple of screen dumps from my own setup to show what I am looking for.

Hopefully this will help us to see whether there is a definite pattern. With this in mind, it might also be prudent to ask which O/S you have installed and what the WiFi adaptor is.

In my case, using this Laptop, these would be:

Windows 7 Home Premium, Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless LAN 802.11n

      Thank you in advance.

I do not have this router myself but I have a number of suggestions for you.

First, given that this router is not N certified what are your results when changing the mode on the router to G or even B?

Second have you monitored the signal graph with another WiFi adapter? Regardless of whether you have not had problems with this adapter I wouldn't rule out as a cause. You should try an adapter from another vendor such as Atheros, Ralink or Intel if you can.

I think it is actually the router and not the adapters from what I can make out, unofficially of course.

Re: Sagem F@ST 2304n WiFi issues

I am in a position where I have two USB WiFi n dongles and two WiFi enabled Laptops. One has a WiFi n adaptor, the other has a WiFi g adaptor. I don't think that everyone else will have the same variety.

As NewreadeR has suggested, it does look as though it is a WiFi issue with the router.

Changing the default settings is one option, but as a single step it would be nice to get a baseline picture of what others are actually getting before playing with them.

If more people can participate, we can gradually see if there are common factors relating to hardware or software.

Currently the router I have is set as shown in the picture attached.

I get the impression it is to do with the actual FW but I have no credible source to commit to saying it is that, if that makes sense.

Re: Sagem F@ST 2304n WiFi issues

Without the ability & knowledge to decrypt the Firmware and look right inside, it would be difficult to gauge whether it is a Firmware or Hardware issue.

For now I would love to either validate or invalidate the findings I have made to date and compare them with the experiences of others. I know that I get a different picture on the other laptop, and I will dig that out again tomorrow.

The settings in my previous post are the default settings, so anyone who has received their router should be able to directly compare as a baseline.

So this is very much a 'Help Wanted' thread.

      Hi,

Well my line and broadband went live yesterday, despite activation date being tomorrow afternoon.

      Windows XP laptop - i5
      Macbook - Snow Leopard
      iPhone
      Blackberry
      PS3

      Wired Devices:
      Windows Home Server NAS
Couple of other PC's and PS3 connected via PowerOverEthernet
      HP Printer

      Router:
      System Details
      Manufacturer Sagemcom
      Model Number F@ST2304
      Firmware Version 5.14.6a4N
      ADSL Firmware Version A2pD030n.d23b
      MAC Starting - C8C

      See Images Below:
I think that the training period may well have not commenced yet, as there was no change to my router stats or uptime overnight. It just kept ticking along!

Many thanks for those pictures and the information.

You're training period will soon kick, but I'll let you discuss that on a separate thread and keep this strictly on topic. With those stats though, you should be able to obtain a very good connection speed.

I am also seriously interested in getting pictures captured after a drop in the WiFi link, should this happen.

Whilst a nice post, could we try to keep this particular thread tightly on the subject of the WiFi signal issues please.

      Thank you.
