      I don't know the total figures, but I know that 6000 C8CD routers have had firmware upgrades as of a few days ago.

      The number of cases raised for faulty routers were in the high thousands, and many of them had at least one replacement sent out. Some got a refurbished model, others got new stock.

      So it's safe to say this has been extremely costly. I'd be really surprised if Sky contracted Sagem again.

      There are certainly a few people who have had no issues at all with the router, hard to say if they are the majority. Still puzzles me how it can be a firmware issue if it works for some.

      Re: Sagem F@ST 2304n WiFi issues

      To be fair to the router, since making some changes, it is generally OK and usable. Even with wifi at present.

      However my issues are:
      1) It just locks up and stops responding to any new clients. I'm guessing that it's something DHCP related, as I can connect to the wifi but not get an address. I have tried putting a fixed IP address, but still no cigar. So, not quite DHCP, but to do with the way it handles connections. Fix ... reboot.

      2) If I try a speedtest of any kind, speed.io, speedtest.net, etc ... then at the end of the downstream speed test it locks up. It then fails to respond to any port 80 traffic of any kind.
      Google based mail, facebook etc which are all on https connections are fine!

      I'm just waiting patiently for the update before I continue diagnosing the issues with my broadband throughput, and where the bottleneck might be.

      For wireless range do you find it's better to leave the router standing up or lying down?

      Sky routers operate better when standing up. This not only improves the wireless but keeps the router cooler. The latest router should be stood up the correct way, with the Sky 'S' upwards.

      Unhappy Re: Sagem F@ST 2304n WiFi issues

      Manufacturer Sagemcom
      Model Number F@ST2304
      Firmware Version 5.14.6.1a4N
      ADSL Firmware Version A2pD030n.d23b

      Seems they added a 1 in there but I have had no phone call from SKY to confirm it like I was told.

      Edit: Checked sky fault tracking site was no updates there says my ticket still open. Then checked my email with this sent to me..
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      Dear Miss Greenwood
      Thank you for your email regarding the planned firmware upgrade for some of our routers. Whilst I realize the frustration that a constantly dropping internet connection can cause, I would ask you to keep it connected until Friday 27 May 2011 as this is the date that the firmware upgrade is due to complete.
      As for the cable between the router and the sky box, we supply one length of cable. If this length isn't sufficient for how you have your equipment set up, then I have to advise you to purchase a cable of sufficient length. These can be bought in good hardware stores and are relatively inexpensive.
      I hope this has been helpful
      If you have any further queries feel free to reply to this email or call our broadband technical help department on 08442 410 515.
      Kind regards
      I had asked sky if I could reconnect my 2504 until they rolled out the fix for the 2304 seems I have to put up with the disconnections until they fix this.
      Anyone else disconnecting with the new firmware via wireless dropping? Twice so far since rebooting when I got up this morning.
      Thanks Emmie and HuckNall.
      I checked mine this morning and still no update.
      If you or anyone else can confirm some of the following for the new firmware with WiFi enabled, I believe members would be grateful:
      • does an iPhone connect?
      • any problems with Windows XP or Vista computers that had problems previously?
      • do WiFi printers work (HP particularly)?
      • what is the maximum WiFi speed reported by inSSIDer?
      • does the throughput seem to be any slower or faster?
      • do you experience any occasional drops in the WiFi connection?
      Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
      Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms
      Re: Sagem F@ST 2304n WiFi issues
      • does an iPhone connect? - No Iphone here, got a mini Xperia, connects just fine
      • any problems with Windows XP or Vista computers that had problems previously? No problems either wired or wifi
      • do WiFi printers work (HP particularly)? - not got 1
      • what is the maximum WiFi speed reported by inSSIDer? 72N
      • does the throughput seem to be any slower or faster? can't notice any difference
      • do you experience any occasional drops in the WiFi connection? Yes, but only when running inSSIDer. When this program is being used, wifi stops working & loses connection, if inSSIDer is turned off, then wifi comes back & reconnects
      I have had this firmware since 19th May & everything seems to work just fine...
      Unless I use inSSIDer. If I use inSSIDer, then the wifi stops working & loses connection to the router although the router itself still works just fine, I only have 1 wifi device to test...
      Is the pub open yet?
