If I use inSSIDer, then the wifi stops working & loses connection to the router
Try using Netstumbler it works fine on XP and Vista. Downloads | NetStumbler.com

Have been at work all day, but I assume that the diagnostics below show that the connection hasn't dropped since I reconnected wifi this morning.

Re: Sagem F@ST 2304n WiFi issues

I haven't dropped connection wi-fi (on laptop win7) since those two times mentioned!. I am relieved. My sons XP PC connection working fine over homeplug & our wi-fi printer works as normal (HP Officejet 4500 Wireless All-in-One Printer - G510n )
Sky anytime+ is working fine and so is the Xbox 360 skyplayer. (both via homeplug)

I am still concerned about the wireless range however, I am less than 6 meters away from my router. My router is in the hallway and I am in room upstairs above it. The range keeps dropping from 5/5 bars of strength to 2-3 bars.
To clarify again I have router in hallway, there is no cordless phones in the house, no bluetooth appliances (even mobile phones I disable until I actually need). Only things in hallway is a shelf, with printer in middle of it, router on top with the corded landline phone. I used to have a netgear DG834PN router before I joined SKY and the range on that was amazing up to 2 terraced houses away I could get the signal!. I am just disappointed with the sky routers both the 2304 and the 2504 the range is awful! Cant sit outside in garden and use laptop, the neighbours BT signal is stronger than mine!

Glad to see that your HP printer is working. Many members have complained about some not working with other Sky routers and firmware versions. Hopefully more will gradually confirm this with other models as well.

As for the WiFi coverage, it does vary with different homes & building materials, as will all WiFi connections.

The best way to get a good signal is to place the router on it's side using the stand provided. Ensure the the 'S' on the front in the Sky logo is at the top. The WiFi aerial will then be at the highest point.

The BT HomeHub v2 (and I guess the v3) has a very string WiFi signal. You may further benefit from ensuring that you use a WiFi channel which is clear of the BT HomeHub.

Install and use inSSIDer to see which channel it uses and set yours so that it is clear of their signal.

Often the BT HomeHub will use channel 7. If this is the case, then channels 1 or 13 would be the best choice for you.

Re: Sagem F@ST 2304n WiFi issues

Whoopee! My router finally updated just after 8.10 this morning.

If now decommissioned the Netgear router once more and enabled the WiFi on the Sagem. I had to reset the Switch as the TV seemed to want to interfere with the network routing again. It seems like Sky still needs to address this issue.

Once this was done, the response of the Sagem improved.

      • does an iPhone connect? I don't have an iPhone or iPad
      • any problems with Windows XP or Vista computers that had problems previously? will try at a later date when some friends visit. I'll also check out my other Laptop, but that was fine anyway
      • do WiFi printers work (HP particularly)? I don't have a HP printer
      • what is the maximum WiFi speed reported by inSSIDer? 72mbps seems to be unchanged
      • does the throughput seem to be any slower or faster? will evaluate over the next few days
      • do you experience any occasional drops in the WiFi connection? too soon to judge, but will monitor things

For reference, I have the following info in my 'Blocked sites' list:

It works fine. Just ran a speedtest over WiFi to confirm & all was Ok.
